Leo Dimos, the Principal of the firm, was one of the first migrants to complete a law degree through a Commonwealth scholarship at the Australian National University. He was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in 1965.

The firm commenced operations in 1967 in Melbourne from a single room off the Bourke Street Mall. In 1981 we relocated to our current, larger premises at Armith House, 226-228 Swanston Street, Melbourne.

A member of the Law Institute of Victoria since his admission in 1965, Leo became a registered tax agent and provided brokerage services to existing clients of insurance products. He remains an associate of the Taxation Institute of Australia.

Through the 1980s the firm became a leader in personal injury/WorkCover matters as well as commercial litigation. Dimos also developed its mortgage practice, with a substantial loan portfolio.

In the late 1980s the firm expanded and diversified its practice areas considerably, acting for clients Australia-wide as well as securing our first publicly listed commercial clients.

Our debt recovery and insolvency practice areas significantly expanded during the 1990s. In the same period we began acting for national mortgage fund managers, credit unions, home loan providers, listed public companies and a major European bank.

To offer easier access to many of our clients, Dimos Lawyers opened its first suburban branch office in 2006 at Mt Waverley. We plan further similar expansion.

Dimos Lawyers has established co-operative relationships and affiliations with firms in each Australian state as well as overseas.

We act as Melbourne agents to a number of interstate law firms in Sydney, Brisbane and South Australia.
